Why didn't you bastards tell me this game was so good, fucking assholes. It's been out for 3 years! It already has 2 expansions and a sequel just came out. Unbelieveable.
My first playthrough I'm attempting a chaotic evil rogue and so far her reputation is deceptive, cruel and aggressive and is a friend to no faction due to frequent betrayals. I've had companions threaten to leave the group because of either bullying or violating their moral values, not sure which.

Unfortunately my rogue has base Resolve, so she's not a very convincing liar. But she makes up for it with intimidation because her might is above average. Unfortunately deception isn't rewarded in many significant ways, so pretty much she lies when the truth would serve her better.
The only companion that is treated friendly is the one acting as tank, but that's mostly because he makes fun of our wizard.
Also I'm pretty sure I'm eventually going to have to kill our priest before he tries to kill my rogue...
The jury is still out but this might be among my absolute favorite games. I don't even think I'm halfway through the first game yet.

It should have been obvious that it was good. Look who made it.

I found a brothel and sleeping with "Big Durnsey" the Orlan with a third leg gets you a +2 bonus to Resolve and along with a foppish looking +2 Resolve feathered dueling hat she's almost an above average liar.
But she also has less than base intellect since the hat also grants -1 intel, so she might be a more convincing liar but she's kinda dumb despite being clever. I guess she's streetwise.

My favorite part so far was when the villagers of a town paid me to kill the feudal lord who's been oppressing his people, and instead brokered a deal with him to kill the leader of the rebel fighters for more money.
Really surprised and upset a few companions, but really set the tone for the rest of the adventure.

Tried playing it but I can't get into story and stat-heavy isometric RPGs for some reason.

I haven't played one since probably fallout. I haven't been interested in them because I felt like they were just old school throwbacks and not well made anymore and that more modern games are just going to be better.
But the last fallout kinda sucked for story and rpg options, and conversation choices were just terrible. It does feel pretty old school when playing it though, definitely getting nostalgia from playing it. Might be why I like it so much, it's like a super highly polished game from the late 90s.
It is super story driven though, way more so than any FPS rpg I've played. And I'm really enjoying how much freedom I have to complete the story quests, not only are the a variety of ways to do things, you can totally choose the worst options and still progress. The game is beatable even if you do everything wrong and kill everyone.
I just finished a fetch quest by stating my intent to keep the quest item (it was +2 might neck piece for my rogue) and killing the quest giver to take his cloak. Turns out I didn't even need the neck piece, but it was a totally legitimate way to finish the quest.
