This way everyone's happy. Robots don't have race or sex so whites/POC/men/women/gay/straight/trans/etc can't be under- or over-represented. I imagine in the future a lot of movies and TV will have aliens or asexual microbes as characters to just avoid the whole culture war thing.
I remember emojis were canary yellow so as to not be any race in particular but somehow yellow emojis became de facto white (I seem to remember something similar with The Simpsons where yellow was supposed to be a nonracial color but again became "white" but maybe it's just the Mandelbaum Effect like the Björnsson Bears.)

The PC crowd can still get as mad about alien stereotypes in the prequels as Trump supporters got about The Last Jedi. People can get pissy about SpongeBob. I really want a droid movie to come out just so I can be edgy by talking about what a Mary2 that lead droid was.
