Sugar is bad and its consumption ought to be legitimately discouraged by tax and other proportionate means. Thanks.

@OP

its a win/win

You'd end up drinking Tesco everyday value sugar free milk powder instead

I should've known you would support the nanny state!

look at how many people are morbidly obese
people can't be trusted not to even fucking gorge themselves on sugar so I think a bit of nannying is needed tbh

This won't just stop at sugar. It will extend to fat, then carbohydrates and the poor will just get poorer. This won't do a thing to stop obesity, I'm actually drinking more sugary drinks now then before the sugar tax was introduced. I suppose you think the digital economy act was a good thing too. Even Reddit may be blocked, that's just the kind of state interference you love. I bet you're even ready to have CCTV to be installed in your house.

The plastic carrier bag fee reduced plastic bag usage tremendously. The cigarette tax + blank packaging decreased the sale and usage of tobacco products. I see no reason why consumption of sugar drinks won't decrease with this tax.
I think that's a bit of a slippery slope fallacy you're using, there. Nobody is going to support a tax on fat, nor carbohydrates. Sugar is demonstrably evil, thanks.
I have an Amazon Echo™ so I basically already have CCTV in my house. ;)

This is the liberals solution to everything: tax it. Taxes won't work on food because everyone eats. We'll see the evidence in a few years, if the sugar tax has reduced sugar consumption and obesity is down, I'll eat my hat. Sweeteners are just as bad, if not worse than sugar. Aspartame has been linked to cancer and other sweeteners can cause health problems such as migraines.

Knock up a woman. Breast milk is very sweet and tax free.

It's funny because the famous nanny Mary Poppins has the song "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down"
"the medicine go down"

The Conservatives, don't let the name fool you, the Tories are as liberal as they come.

People are fat because of vidya games and cable tv and barely moving when they have their phone in their face 45 minutes of every hour.
Chocolate milk is not so bad
