I love them. I am reading one now called “The Uninvited”. It is terrifying because it is a true story, and it is obviously a demon and not a ghost. I find these books thrilling. What about you? Kook? Becky?

the cabinets opened by themselves and a cup fell out, this is the work of demons! I will spend thousands on an exorcist and then try to recoup my loss through e-book royalties.

It's easier if you just make up a good story and sell it as a thing that really happened to you. Skip the exorcist entirely.

Other witnesses confirm many of these, including cops.

Well, if a cop says something it must be true. Especially if it's about ghosts.

The police mean something entirely different when they say 'spooks'.

Not very many people do. Publishing is catching on again a bit with audiobooks but reading as a hobby is dying.

You haven't tried since? I stopped for a while in grad school when I was reading a lot of math-heavy material and scientific journal articles. Reading fiction just sort of fried my brain because it would meander along at an uncomfortable pace when I kept expecting it to go somewhere in a hurry. It was hard to shift gears into a mindset necessary to enjoy reading for pleasure. I managed to start enjoying it again when I was stuck in Atlanta for 10 hours because of a canceled flight. It turns out that almost anything feels better than the hell of being stuck waiting in an airport wondering where the laptop with your presentation on it and all your expensive lab equipment is going now that the airline has almost certainly lost your baggage. I learned that escaping into a fantasy world is super easy! Maybe you'll manage to have a magic moment of your own that rekindles your interest in reading one day.
