Soft drink manufacturers make sugar free versions of their drinks. They're not diet or artificially sweetened, just completely unsweetened. Next, the soft drink manufacturers start selling, at a token cost like 1p each, packets of concentrated sugar syrup, "for baking use". So you buy a bottle of unsweetened Coke and get the sugar syrup packet you just pour in and drink!

I'm actually drinking more sugary drinks thanks to the sugar tax. Because they're lower sugar, I drink more of them.
