It doesnt even matter if it was or wasnt real socialism at this particular point, what matters is that at some point almost half of humanity was following marxist communism because it followed their class interests (unlike strasserism)
and the policies of the USSR under Stalin have nothing to do with the ideological groundwork of Marxism/communism as a whole
