I just submitted the question to Google - How often is DNA analysis in error
Then narrowed that down to - Errors in DNA Criminal convictions
Turns out after looking at sources like Atlantic Monthly that write extensive articles on a case study - Yes errors occurr and so far the worst of the worst are ferreted out by the defense attorney b4 conviction But so far there is not that much in data base of very bad errors
Family errors where the other family member was the Perp - And really really bad lab errors - Science is only as good as the people doing that lab work - Machines of course are so much better than a lab worker strung out on Oxycontin.
Am about to take my 1st sip of Triple Espresso so perhaps my conclusions will be more better with more case studies
