Topic: Democratic Party files lawsuit against Trump campaign, Russia, and WikiLeaks
squeegee started this discussion 8 years ago#74,490
The Democratic Party has filed a lawsuit in federal court against President Donald Trump's campaign, the Russian government, and the organization WikiLeaks. The suit alleges the three defendants illegally conspired to hurt the Democratic Party by engineering the hack of the Democratic National Committee and disseminating stolen materials during the 2016 election. When the DNC filed a civil against former President Richard Nixon's reelection committee in the 1970s, the Nixon campaign ultimately had to shell out $750,000 to settle the case.

Its conspiracy to run a private organization as they see fit? No. It's conspiracy to organize with a foreign power to influence an election. If you're going to try and normalize this with "whataboutism" then at least to to equate things that are similar and not entirely completely different things. Thanks.

That's utter bullshit and you know it.
Nice Fox news talking points itt, cant any of you form opinions on your own? Jesus.

Right? Why can't we just agree that they are all scumbags?

I'm sure that's how Trump would feel if he had lost the election and found out that Hillary's campaign had worked with a foreign superpower in a targeted international smear campaign against Donald Trump. I'm sure he would just keep quiet and take his lumps. Trump would probably just throw up his hands and say, "Well, I said some nasty stuff too. No one is innocent here. That's all water under the bridge. Well played, Hillary."

No. Specificity is important. The type of scumbaggery is relevant. A crooked scumbag who cheats isn't the same as a crooked scumbag who commits treason.
You are willing to admit that something like, say, treason, should be handled as a bigger crime than something like wire fraud, eh? That there actually are degrees of wrong doing? You'll at least agree that some kinds of crimes are worse than others, right?

I do think that some crimes are worse than others, but we don't have proof of collusion. I also think that these are very similar crimes.

the investigation isn't over and once it is we'll know what we don't know, because what we dont know is what's driving the investigation. we know a lot of tangential stuff, and we know there is some kind of evidence trail that's being investigated but we don't know all the details of that yet. we will have to let the investigation finish before passing final judgement, all we really know is that there is a lot being investigated, so i'm confident that they'll get to the bottom of it. and if trump isn't complicit in all this and is really as innocent as he insists then i'm willing to agree with the findings of the Muller investigation. I may not like the scumbag, but if he's not a traitor then so be it, he's just a piece of shit i disagree with and not a traitor to this country working to undermine american influence in the world.
but if he is, then i hope that y'all are willing to walk back all your defenses of the guy and say, "ok, fine, he needs to be removed from office," the same way i'm willing to admit, "fine, he's a legitimate president who earned his office and we owe him the respect of any other sitting president."
i may not like it, but i'm willing to agree with reality when it presents itself.

but what i'm not willing to do is trust trump's word in all this. he may, MAY not be a traitor, but he's still demonstrated himself to be a liar many, numerous, multitude of times. and i can't understand why anyone would take him at his word on anything at this point.

So, Wikileaks and Julian Assange are being sued by the Democrats for revealing how the Dems rigged the primaries.
They are counter suing, have never lost a publishing case, and are looking forward to the discovery phase. I just donated to their legal defense. Thanks
