With the price going up and down all the fucking time like crazy, is it a good idea to buy some Bitcoins in the hope of making money? Is the price just going to go up and up gradually like it has done from the beginning? I'm pretty sure there's no way to make cash from mining anymore.

Buy bitcoins to have bitcoins... not in the hopes of profiting off of it.

As with any prospective investment you have to consider making money over the course of years, not weeks or months. So if you're looking for a quick buck, look elsewhere, if you believe bitcoins will continue to grow over the years throw a little money into them.
