Well, you see, Matt knows the ancestry of every French chef ever and can verify that they are purely Gallic. It's not like Romans, people from the British isles, Vikings, or wandering Germanic tribes ever came and settled in area, right? Every French chef was authentically dug out of Gallic soil like Uruk-hai in the Lord of the Rings movies and are thus completely native to the land.

He does have a masters degree in languages and cooking skills from classes.
Without a doubt the order taker can ask him to fry a burger and he will understand well medium or rare with multiple languages.
Expecting him to understand White vs a White with a sun tan is beyond his education skills.
