Liverworts was the sister school to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that lost funding from the Ministry of Magic in the mid 15th century and closed its doors for good in March of the year 1453 shortly before the fall of Constantinople. Some Liverworts alumni briefly tried opening a new extension school in the early 1500s that bore the same name, but they ultimately failed, lacking popular support among many wizards in the Council of the West.
