On the basis of assumptions, I agree. To require an expensive post-high school education to obtain any sort of job beyond burger flipping or manual labor is oppressive. It assumes that no motivated individual can obtain a higher understanding of something through personal interest in self-betterment and must have it crammed down their throat but an underpaid scholar's assistant. (The actual scholars are too busy writing expensive textbooks that their students can't afford or doing research to actually teach the classes which bear their names as instructor.)
(Not that there is anything wrong with doing research, but if you can't be present to teach your class, then you shouldn't be listed as the instructor.)
