Downloaded it and deleted it. It's slower than Safari. No wifi for me, though. Maybe it's faster with wifi.

Brave Browser is 8x faster than chrome!

@previous (A)
It's only 8 times faster on Times.com

So you agree. Thanks.

I agree it says on the website that it is 8 times faster at loading Times.com than Chrome. Firefox is better now anyway

It's some dumb firefox fork. Started by Brendan Eich (the CEO of Mozilla who got fired for donating to anti-gay marriage Proposition 8 in California).

I like the idea and tried it, but it just felt sluggish and half baked (this was a while back) I'll have to try it again though!

Being run by a former Mozilla CEO doesn't make it a Firefox fork. The fact that they are using Chrome's engine and basing their code on Chromium also means it's not a Firefox fork.

How can a browser feel half baked? It's just a thing you use to look at web pages.

You're right. Somehow I thought it was a Firefox fork! It's the Mandelbrot effect just like the Bernstein Bears. Eich should have made it a Firefox fork though just to fuck with them.

I thought it was the mandolin effect.

Anyway, Eich seems pretty skeezy and Brave's adblocking scheme does also. They seem to be less focused on blocking ads and more focused on blocking ads that compete with their Brave payment token system. Their approach to privacy seems similarly focused on protecting your data from anyone else who isn't them. It's kind of hiring Jared Fogle to look after your kids knowing he will jealously protect them from all the other pedophiles.
