I was smoking a few hours after getting my wisdom teeth out, but your mileage may vary depending on how messy the extraction turned out.
If it hurts, then it might help put you off cigarettes for a while.

they say the problem is suction but how much more suction could there be compared to me swallowing down my spit all day? isnt that suction too?

I'd probably be more worried about irritating an open mouth wound or getting an infection. Rinsing after you finish is probably a good idea.
