I would like a source that states that is the reason for the high suicide rates, please.
But I used to love the idea of reincarnation, but I came to accept that a lifetime of unhappiness wasn't worth waiting for something good at death. So I decided to start transitioning knowing that the chances that nothing happens at the end are still higher than something that does.

Perhaps you are being punished for a previous life.

It never scared you? There's a lot of human suffering. If you picked a life at random from everyone living today, chances are you would fare worse off than you are now.
> but I came to accept that a lifetime of unhappiness wasn't worth waiting for something good at death.
Pretty profound. That sounds like a rational healthy line of thinking.

Of course, it scared me, that's why if given the option to go back in time or forward into the future to live I wouldn't accept the offer unless there was a guarantee that it was better than the present.
@866,607 (E)
I know that there are many factors that could make up the high suicide rate. Environmental factors like a lack of support, prejudice from those who may not understand, insurance coverage, etc. Financial constraints. Or maybe even coming to the realization that gender reassignment was a mistake since that happens. There is a reason why in order to pursue this legally you are required to see a mental health professional in order to get cleared for hormone therapy. That's why Sophie was denied hormones from her psychiatrist because her psychiatrist either thought she didn't need them or that she was unsound to handle them. I honestly believe the latter since she did make a video threating to kill her psychiatrist.
I mostly just wanted to make sure OP wasn't just pulling random shit from their arse.

I used to think about this a lot as a kid. One hypothesis I arrived at back then was that a transgender person is a soul that has been one gender for several lifetimes and now that they were born into another one it has a hard time to adjust to the new form. This falls apart when you take into consideration that good karma may lead the person to a new life of that correct gender they see themselves in their previous life. Then someone here, some anon, pointed out that the universe tends to be ironic so what if a transgender person who was born male and identifies as female is born as a girl in their next life, but ends up identifying as a man? That is another reason why reincarnation sounded scary to me.

Reternalism makes more sense anyway.

It does, honestly, but the thought of repeating every single action of one's life is scary. Of course, I may have misinterpreted something.

It's happening right now. Are you presently scared? You have lived this day countless times before, and will live it again, separated by several billion years, forever.
I think you might have a slight misunderstanding of it.

I try not to let such thoughts affect me unless I want them to, so no, I am not afraid. And I think the misunderstanding came from another person’s thoughts of the universe as being able to experience everything an infinite number of times.

What is your understanding of reternalism? I don't think you grok it.

My understanding is that the universe resets itself and the course of its lifetime loops. Like a song if you instruct it to do so. I guess I keep thinking there is a form of free will to it where each go around can be different depending on your actions in it. Like in movies such as The Matrix.

1 different decision early on will have a vast impact over the course of time. When you factor in millions of people making different small decisions, the result is a pretty unrecognizable result. The only possible 'looping' would be the expansion and collapse of the universe.

That's Looping Reternalism, I may start another sect called Variable Reternalism where we believe each time loop can vary.

The way the worlds population is growing, if we are reincarnated then for most of us it's our first time around anyway
