instead of living in a perpetual state of fear we could try to reduce firearms production to the point where they aren't as cheap and plentiful and easy to attain. We have the right to bear arms, nothing says we have the right to cheap arms. we could do this by limiting production which will decrease supply and naturally increase the price, or we could tax gun purchases heavily, or we could require gun owners to carry insurance on each firearm they own and plan to carry in public or to a private gun range. making guns more expensive doesn't infringe on anyone's rights, and limiting the supply will have an impact on gun deaths.

or we could, you know, keep blaming the victims because they weren't "nice enough."

I can vouch for that since I know of a story where one of my mother's co-workers was involved in a bus incident where some guy went crazy and shot some people. She was sitting right there and was sparred because she helped the man with something, but the person next to her or a few rows down was shot.

I heard they were actually quite hard. I asked around since I've been thinking of getting it and the proper training to go with it since this city is starting to get fucking terrible. Fortunately for me, gender dysphoria doesn't apply for the 4437 form. I think the issue is that most people are acquiring guns illegally.

this is a huge issue that could be resolved with registration, it would be harder for guns to make it to the streets if they were all registered and tracked and only sold by licensed firearms dealers. private sales and being able to gift guns should be eliminated. all transfers of ownership should require a FFL dealer to file and register the transaction. Similar to having the state transfer the title when you sell a car and have it registered. so if a new gun leaves a manufacturer it'll be super clear when and where and how the gun "entered the street." Right now i could buy an AR-15 and just give it away to anyone i want and they can just take it. All i'd have to say is "i sold it to a stranger, no i didn't document the cash transaction or do a background check."

but you can't just buy a car and give it away, there's tax issues, registration issues and title issues. all of these things the state can track and use to find the current owner of the vehicle. but with cars the onus is on us to properly transfer the title and register the vehicle and insure it, with guns not only is none of that required, but it certainly doesn't require and kind of interaction with FFL dealers who are the ones capable of doing proper background checks.

stop private transfers of guns, require registration, and that will naturally lead to fewer illegal guns hitting the streets in the first place. It'll be impossible to stop all illegal guns but we can certainly make it much, much more difficult for guns to become "illegal guns" in the first place.

just some things people would normally shoot with a 223/5.56
opossum
coon
beaver
wild hogs
some places have a real danger for bears and large cats
.223 is a legal deer hunting caliber in some places
coyote
wallabies
the list goes on

also with the number of rifles chambered for .223/5.56 and .308 and 7.62 and 5.45 that use detachable box magazines it is absolutely retarded to single out the Ar15

In the US, we have realized that criminalizing drug use will mean that only criminals have drugs, and since criminals are going to get drugs anyway we just throw up our hands and say nothing can be done. That's why we don't have any drug laws in the US.

oh it certainly shouldn't be singled out, all semiautomatic rifles should be considered for a ban.
if a musket was good enough for my great grandfather then a bolt action rifle is good enough for me to hunt anything on that list you've got there. hell, my grandfather, a rancher from Kansas didn't need anything more than his lever action .30-30 winchester i do believe it was. he'd consider hunting deer with an m1 garand to be fucking stupid since he never used that rifle for anything and sold it off a long time ago. we still got the winchester though.

get a real rifle if you're worried about "big cats and bears." 223/5.56 will just piss off a good sized bear.

I thought about what happened to Brooks Brown, who got on good terms with Eric Harris again before the Columbine shooting

During "A" lunch, Brooks would do his usual routine after Creative Writing, going out for a smoke and walking around the campus. Except today he saw Eric pull into the Junior Parking lot while exiting out the west entrance of the school. Due to missing the past two hours of school Brooks approached Eric to confront him about his absents. "...and i called him a few names, and he laughed and called me a few names back, and we made this little interchange where i was cussing him out basically... which is really weird that he didn't shoot me for that (laughs) but that comes to mouth". When Brooks told Eric he had missed the test and questioned his absents, Eric replied saying "It doesn't matter anymore...". Eric then looked at Brooks and said "uh... Brooks i like you now, get outta here. Go home". These would be the last words Eric would say to Brooks. Brooks was the only student Eric and Dylan would let go before the shooting

I don't want 16bitch to die in a school shooting and this is the best way to prevent that, imo.

This is actually what Trump is trying to do with unskilled labor (aka poor peoples wages). Weird how people don't see how that could work with labor but do see how it could work with guns.

And you're absolutely right. If firearms produced in/imported to America were subject to a cap (like people want to do with carbon emissions) gun prices would go up dramatically.

I'm making fun of the "LOL We can't prevent it. Criminals gonna criminal!" approach we take to guns while cracking down on other problems like drugs without hesitation.
