Topic: Is "Bill Nye the Science Guy" still scentifically accurate?

Catherine !TGirlYJKXM started this discussion 8 years ago #72,267

I mean, the TV show from the nineties. Is the information presented still accurate or have there been any new studies that disprove any such information? I know the sun isn't a mass of incandescent gas or a gigantic nuclear furnace, but that was in thanks to They Might Be Giants. I'm just wondering how this show stands up to modern scientific standards.

Well at some point he must have referred to Pluto as a planet, so on that note at least he's been voided in the scientific community.

Fair point. But, aside from making distinctions between gas at certain temperatures and pressures, I feel the overall message is still pretty spot on.

Well, not exactly because of them, I discovered their second sun song later. I discovered this because some /sci/entists were getting on them about the inaccuracies of the song due to recent discoveries. That was when I discovered the second sun song.

That's exactly because of TMBG.

The sun is a massive hydrogen-based nuclear fusion entity.

The sun is, in fact, from an culinary perspective, an fish. Thanks.
