Topic: There exists a graphic novel of the Holy Bible.

This still doesn't answer a question I have had over the past few days about why there hasn't been an adaption of the scripture that was made to read from cover to cover much like with regular novels, but this seems pretty interesting and the illustrations look very nice.

I read from an article where I first discovered this that the purpose for its existence is to allow those who felt intimidated by the actual text-based bibles to read and gain an understanding of what the book is about.

It does feel odd when you see illustrations of Jesus Christ done in a graphic novel style since he was a peaceful man and graphic novels tend to have darker overtones.

How do you adapt long genealogies and lists of rules for priests? How do you adapt a collection of separate songs and prayers into a novel? What do you do with all the stories that are told different ways more than once? It's a collection of material that should probably be understood in historical context. It's not a comic book.

Individual stories can stand alone and be adapted, but I think most would argue that you lose a lot that way.

I guess it is a comic book now, but yeah, those were reasons why this was never attempted. It still surprises me that nobody tried.

I'm sure people have tried. There are plenty of Bible readers for kids that have illustrated Bible stories. Cartoons, movies, TV shows, just about any medium you can think of has been used to tell selected stories from the Bible, but the material isn't really a cohesive narrative by itself.

That means any attempt at a novelization would be met with conformation bias?

An author or authors would probably end up adding story elements to make the narrative flow work or minimizing aspects of the story that some other people would deem important - the same kind of thing that happens when someone makes a movie from a popular book. But really, the material as whole doesn't lend itself to a straight through novel.

> conformation bias
100% pure Cathy

Where story details were sketchy they would probably fill in elements that tended to confirm any beliefs they might hold. That's not exactly confirmation bias, but I think that's where you were going with that.

You aren't supposed to read it straight through, cover to cover, mora.

Try spending time with an actual bible instead of just fantasizing about it.
