There is no reason for them to stop selling. The seller are the most protected. All they have to do is ship a package from an anoymous drop box, and receive payment using an anonymous currency.
The feds were undoubtedly the first ones to know of Silk Road.
The whole point of Tor, and Bitcoins is that it doesn't matter if people know. the SR admins were glad about the press for a reason. This whole "HURR DURR, OUR SECRET IS OUT" bullshit is getting out of hand- it was never a secret, all gawker did was popularize a service which only means more sellers and buyers in the long run.

Really? Popularising an illicit item-selling service with very public publicity is a good thing? All that will do is get a government eye on it. You can buy Bitcoins anonymously using prepaid cards, liberty reserve, and many other ways.
You can put coins through a tumbler to launder them.
You can sell them to people who will mail you prepaid cards, send cash, or get the money one of a million other ways.

Sure, there is more pressure now. However, there are many safe ways to transfer Bitcoins. It's hard to tell what people actually did with the coins. Peoplebuy them, they switch hands several times, and you can't tell who did what. Multiple transactions before being converted to cash, tumblers, anonymous conversion of BTC to USD, trans-national trading (But coins in USD, buy product, that guy buys another thing in the market, that person sells it without setting off alarms, perhaps for a prepaid card, that person buys somthing, that vendor sells it for Rubles- all while going through tumblers several times).
Of couse with several sending and recieving addresses, making it even harder to tell who has how much money.

Tracking bitcoins is very hard. One person could easily make it look like several hands have held the coins without actually trading them. Many people can buy and sell without telling who bought one. Receiving and sending addresses, tumblers, and many more making it very confusing.
The seller doesn't have much risk, and the individual user only gives an address. Did they really buy them, or was someone giving their address to frame them? Of course, you should only buy from reputable sellers anyway.
You seem to think there is some danger, but you can't say what? Maybe you should understand the system first.
