I have a feeling that the live action version of this movie will be just as good. Disney did a good job of re-creating their story of Beauty & The Beast in live action, almost scene for scene, so a movie like this would probably surpass this.
I am, however, a little skeptical about the live-action Aladdin.

Not if they portray the culture accurately then cries of racism would just be considered overanalyzing. I noticed that sometimes Disney has a tendency for at least trying to get culture right. Of course, this is the same company that made Pocahontas and took massive liberties with the story. They have to worry about Mulan too since they would want to avoid the whole whitewashing thing that seems common for movies that are inspired by the Far East or Asia Minor. See The Last Airbender and Prince of Persia.
