Didn't "family reunification" become "chain migration" already? Why are we changing it back? I can't keep up with the newspeak.

I've been listening to NPR a lot while driving and I think this is an area where Republicans are missing the boat bigly. It's subtle but has a significant impact on how issues are discussed. It's like the Sapir-Whorf thing. Of course I'm not the NPR target demo so maybe regular NPR listeners don't hear it at all.

I don't know. Republicans seem to be doing a good job rebranding concepts to suit their narrative lately. For as much as they resisted "political correctness" they seem to have just as much fun re-labeling stuff. The art of rhetoric goes back thousands of years, and how you phrase things matters. If you can come up with a label that imposes some kind cognitive frame at the same time and get everyone to use that, then that's probably a big edge.

I like listening to NPR when I commute but I take about twenty seconds every few segments to scream in exasperation.

Why can't you afford to own guns?

It's one of those things like freedom of speech which people only support when it benefits them. No one is really against political correctness they're just against the other sides PC.

It was alwqays family reuninification before TRUMP change it to “chain migration”, so that keeping families apart would not sound as cruel and evil as it actually is.

Another one: "gun control" has become "gun safety".

Also there's something about NPR that when I'm listening to it while driving makes me want to stop going where I'm going and take a detour to Washington DC and beat all the announcers senseless with the tire iron in my trunk. It's not even the politics. Pacifica Radio is even leftier and I actually kind of like listening to Democracy Now with Amy Goodman.

It's just something about the way the NPR people sound. Not even what their saying but their voices. I hate all of them.

It's like when black people try to sound white, but these guys on NPR are already white.
