Flat-Earther ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes [" A a Limousine driver) intends to finally launch himself into orbit in a homemade rocket on Saturday – right over the Route 66 ghost town of Amboy, California.
The Rocket is going to Huff and Puff and Sound like a Steam Train and Sputter & such.
An earlier attempt to launch the Steam-Powered Rocket was thwarted at the last minute by a US federal agency, saying Hughes had no permission to use public land.
The vertical rocket jump will now take place on private land belonging to the owner of Amboy, Albert Okura. If successful, it will bring Hughes one step closer to his ambition of reaching the edge of space
and proving the Earth is actually flat.
Hughes made the rocket himself from recycled scrap metal, painting it bright green with the words ‘Flat Earth.’ The rocket blast, which will see Hughes catapulted half a mile into the air, will be broadcast live on Noize TV at a cost of $5 per viewer. Spectators are not permitted at the launch site and Hughes has warned that any drones spotted on the private property will be shot down.

He's not going far up enough to prove that the Earth is round either so either way he has this figured out to where he could always get his "evidence". If he were really some real scientist he'd try to touch the firmament.

@previous (Catherine !TGirlYJKXM) > The rocket blast, which will see Hughes catapulted half a mile into the air,
All that work when he can simply drive up many a mountain - Not all that far from me is Mount Palomar at 6,142 feet of elevation and there is a road all the way to the top.
Looked up for review how high one need go to see the Earth is curved and that is 35,000 Feet but requires a Pilots point of view because you need 60 degrees of view at 35,000 Feet
However when is the last time you visited a real Ghost town - Amboy is a town that has been bought and sold several times and comes with a lot of stuff - One minor problem is no source of clean water - No clue how Mike is going to make steam with dirty water
Still if this event were in my hood I wood go out and watch cause it should be good 4Laffs

I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few people who legitimately believe it though.

Oh yeah, there are people who believe that. I just meant that it looks like Mike Hughes latched on to the flat Earth shtick to get attention and money. I think he's just a guy who likes building and launching rockets. Having a wacky cause makes him interesting and eccentric rather than a crazy old guy building homemade missiles out in the desert.

So I have an update - The Rocket is MADE OUT OF A BROKEN DOWN MOTOR HOME
Mike hopes his latest rocket will shoot him over twice as high - around 3,000 feet - above the Californian desert, travelling at speeds of up to 500mph for just a few seconds of airtime before he parachutes back down again.
Mike has taken to the skies before, but the landing left him needing a walker for two weeks afterwards
“We have a valid plan to get me 52 miles up in a solid rocket. That will be at the end of this year."
The trouble is that this launch will need around $2million (£1.4m) to get off the ground.
That's a lot to of money just to see the curvature of the earth -
especially when he could always just strap a Go Pro to a balloon and be done with it.

He needs to rent a crane and other items he does not have the cash for. Like bullets he has to buy to shoot down the Drones with GoPros
Looks like more bumps in road for news views
and has promised to shoot down any drones — he said in the video it would be live-streamed.
When The Post phoned Hughes on Wednesday, he said the pay-per-view company he planned to use was “going bankrupt,” and he was looking for alternatives.

So it was a simple matter of he pulled the Go lever and it was NO GO - NO Juice - No huff and puff of STEAM.
Could not try again on Sunday because he has to be in court to put the Governor Jerry Brown in Prison along with Cal US Senator and a slew of others he is suing for some odd reason

I'd like to see (((you))) try building a functioning rocket. Thanks.

I have wayyyyyy back as young Teen. YOU YES U can send Rockets UP UP n Away - Just open up wallet and buy and send up - DO NOT Strap self to anyone of these however - A mouse maybe

Syntax is only 15 minutes away from building a functional rocket at any given time.
