World of Warcraft character backstory thread! you just can't stay away from these, can you? well you're in luck cause this is a good one. the Death Knight campaign might be my favorite. the class fantasy is really on point with a bunch of call backs to well known characters from throughout the game. so last time you heard that my death knight was tasked by the Lich King with raising the Four Horsemen, and so far two of them have been raised from the dead as Death Knights. But he needs other soldiers and commanders as well, and so the Lich King has ordered High Inquisitor Sally Whitemane of the Scarlet Crusade be resurrected as a Death Knight. You might remember her as the final boss fight in the Scarlet Monastery from back in vanilla. The Scarlet Crusade was formed in the ruins of Lordaeron after the undead scourge invasion destroyed the north. the became basically a fanatical cult that eventually turned their zealotry against anyone who wasn't one of them.
she was killed back in vanilla, and as it happens my rogue took part. interestingly she didn't go there for a quest, she was picked up by a group on their way to go kill someone and took part purely for the loot. it was only later that she learned that Sally Whitemane was leading the fight against the undead in the north, and was the only one making any difference. after her death there was no one to stop the scourge from controlling all of lordaeron, and to this day they're nothing but more entrenched. Had my rogue known who Sally Whitemane was, she might've tried to join the crusade and get revenge for her own families demise.
being responsible for that is one of the reasons that my rogue looked towards Northrend when the Alliance began their invasion against the Lich King directly. I wonder how she'd feel knowing High Inquisitor Whitemane was back as an undead death knight and working with the Ebon Blade.

the Death Knights are also making Abominations again... this is probably the Lich King's idea. he loves his frankensteins. as his second in command my death knight was a little surprised at far progressed they were in abomination production without having heard anything about it. they got a whole wing of the Ebon hold setup as a lab. but okay, i guess we're animating stitched together corpses, oh, but this time they're a new human/demon hybrid that's never been tried before. and powered by the beating hearts of demi-gods.squeegee (OP) triple-posted this 8 years ago, 4 minutes later, 12 minutes after the original post[^] [v] #856,162
raising king Thoras Trollbane from his crypt at Stromgarde keep in old Lordaeron. super old character from Warcraft 2, actually. kind of a shitty place now, Stromgarde. at various times it's been destroyed by orcs, inhabited by bandits and ogres, and now a group is working to rebuild and grow influential in the region again. unfortunately for them they wouldn't simply explain where to find the tomb of King Trollbane and my death knight had to kill most of them including their leader.an instead of raising them as part of his undead army he exploded their corpses into piles of meat and bone because he thinks it's funny.
