meta's only around 30
i'm just surprised that he learned how to type around the age of 13
i do remember using computers in elementary school, definitely back to grade 4 but not sure about before that

there was a class in sixth grade where they sat us in front of these things like digital typewriters that would have walls of text and you'd type along and it would judge your accuracy and wpm. also we had to put mats over the keyboard to hide the keys
there were only two of us who could really type so we made like a game out of it

in my middle school computer class they would have you do that typing practice thing (what you describe but, like, on a normal computer) at the end of every class. if you made it to 90wpm you could go early. that was neat.

accuracy counts! i forget if they had it so you couldn't continue until you got the right letter or if it just counted against your overall score at the end
i was pretty fast i think near 100wpm then
right now i have a kinda shitty keyboard and don't need to type so often so it's down to 80

Typing class middle school - Probably one of the MOST IMPORTANT Lessons of life.
Tests once a week and me and a friend found a way to cheat the exam - We both ended up as top of class by cheating and both got caught
Turns out without cheating I was faster and had less errors - Great lesson in life - About 60 to 65 WPM with 3 or so errors

schools should have way more skills education instead of trivia education and write-about-shit-you-read busy work
