Do we not have a purpose in everything we do? Do we not use our precious time to achieve these purposes? Do we not live our lives "on purpose"? Since the day we were born we have been marching towards death.
And what is an individual span of life compared to the great history of our Universe? Our species is minute in the footnotes of the history of the Universe, and an individual hardly even marked. Even the most famous of people will find a time where nobody remembers their name.
