Everything in a human existence is experienced through our senses.
Therefore, we do not directly experience external things, but instead experience our senses interpretation of those events.
This experience is called an impression, and the duty of a Stoic is to examine and criticise these impressions according to rationality and logic, always keeping in mind what is and is not under your control.
