if you're only worried about the work and what you'll get out of it then you probably shouldn't get a dog
any pet is a huge commitment and dogs need a lot of attention. if you actually take the time to figure out what it takes and this is your first dog, then Id strongly recommend getting an older dog from a shelter who already knows how to behave himself and whose personality meshes with yours - it'll make it that much easier
