It doesn't get any more simple than installing extensions.If you haven't heard of Adblock Plus by adblockplus.org, you've been missing out. Adblock Plus was originally created for Firefox, but since then it has also been available on Chrome. Adblock Plus comes with filter lists already made, so no need to manually block most advertisements. However, if you come across an ad that needs to be blocked, you can simply add it to your filter list.
You'll first want Better Pop Up Blocker by Eric Wong. The good thing about this extension is that it not only blocks regular pop ups, but also blocks pop ups opened by JavaScript. It's also good for lots of other pop ups, such as alert, prompt, and confirm boxes.
A good tip that you can do is allow your extensions to run in incognito mode. This is good for those who view pornography on the internet, as many pornography sites are filled with advertisements and pop ups. With these extensions installed, your pages will load faster. I also love these extensions for use on netbooks due to a small screen present and not being one of the fastest things on the market.

Cool beans. I hadn't heard of that popup blocker. I've been using both Firefox and Chrome for awhile now, surprisingly Chrome more than Firefox.

I heard of it when Chrome was still fairly new, however I reinstalled Chrome and forgot about it.
