@previous (E)The original, grim punchline of the comic, created by Safely Endangered, was “That’s not honey! You’re eating my father’s ashes,” but it’s been changed innumerable times over the years by creative memers. “Bone hurting juice” seems to have stuck more than most, though, and now it’s taken on life outside of the comic.
The meme really took off this month, with several bone hurting juice Facebook fan pages and a new bone hurting juice subreddit (r/bonehurtingjuice), which features many memes about bone hurting juice (and some memes that aren’t.)
Following on from the original comic, bone hurting juice seems to have taken the form of an anti-joke: the juice hurts your bones, as its name would imply. There’s no trick, and no real punchline (other than “oof owie ouch”).
