Especially in the latest movie where she essentially fails a lot. It's too soon to call her a Mary Sue and it leads me to seriously believe that gynophobia is the culprit for why many female lead characters are despised. Gynophobia has always had a place in nerd culture. Not to confused with misogyny which is the out right hatred of women. Gynophobia seems more accurate.

@OP
They are essentially calling the new Star Wars a bad fan fiction...

She didn't get a lightsaber training montage but she was still really good at it. Flying spaceships too. She's awesome at everything, like a Mary Sue. Thanks

It's star wars, lightsabers and spaceships are the only two things people care about. Idk, maybe she's good at blasters too without any rhyme or reason like the Mary Sue that she is. Ok

I don't get this Mary Sue thing (i mean i do - y'all just hate women) but it's not like movies ever have montages or exposition of/on men acquiring skills or whatever
it's unnecessary to explain how any character acquired the set of skills unless the story is about the acquisition of skills
and tbh I half-watched the first one and her background totally justified basic combat skills and idk about piloting but it's fuckin space wars or whatever. plus they have fucking super powers and shit!!! what do you want!
god

There is a canonical explanation for why Rey is so good at piloting, but it comes from a kids book and it's sort of neat while lame at the same time. The explanation is that since Rey was a scavenger she picked up a simulator that allowed her to essentially play X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter and other battle simulations. Most people just claim that mind tricks, mind rape, and such are high level skills mostly due to playing too much video games that organizes these abilities into levels and because Kylo Ren was trained by Luke Skywalker a Master Jedi.

In all honestly, all of the blasters in The Force Awakens felt like everybody was using auto-aim. This was the same way for Han Solo too.

Star Wars has montages? Luke never had one and Anakin never had one either.

If Rey carried Luke around on her back lifting X-Wings out of swamps for half a movie, I could understand your position.

Because I honestly don't believe that nerds are misogynist or sexist. If they truly hated women then they wouldn't be playing as women in video games. I think it's just more of a fear of women so thus it's gynophobia.
