Indeed I have bought the Goose and cooked a Goose. Same for Peking Duck and Cassoulet and a totally for real Pho.
Doing so just once was a lesson learned as to why a few dishes are worth doing just once and from then on letting a restaurant do it from now on.
Having to go borrow a bicycle pump for the Peking Duck put a smile on my neighbors face and cost me having to share some duck and there really is not so much to eat from just one duck.

NOTICE! Official Minichan New Year's Eve Countdown Thread 2018?

63 Days Until New Year's Eve 2018

On the day of Christmas, this thread may become a brief countdown to New Year's Eve. While it's not needed as I am sure many of us could easily know the number of days between Christmas Day (December 25) and the last day of the current year (December 31). The answer is six days by the way. Then again, I am a resident of the Golden State of California which means my IQ is automatically lower than those in other U.S. states. I just thought this might be a fun way to keep this thread a little bit more active before the start of the Official Minichan Christmas Countdown Thread 2019 which I plan to start on January 1st of next year.

I would personally like to thank everyone here for participating within these threads. It really does help make them feel like this community's own little Christmas tradition. I would like to thank the moderators for making this the first-ever countdown thread to be stickied. Thanks also go to whoever made the official label as seen here @844,962 ($anta). Once again, thank you, everyone, for making these threads something that would forever be floating within the depths of cyberspace, that is, as long as minichan.org continues to survive into the future.

Initital Image for the 2019 Thread

As you may have guessed, I like starting these threads off with an image pertaining to a current event either from the end of last year or an event that will transpire the following year. 2016 is the exception as that started with just a Christmas-y picture of a tree. 2017 had a picture of newly elected President Donald J. Trump wearing a Santa Claus outfit. This year's thread had a picture of the first ever female Doctor on the long-running British science fiction series, Doctor Who. If you have any suggestions on what should be the leading image for next year's thread then please feel free to post your suggestions.

Glad you like it! I just threw something together in JS, figured it would be neat.

It uses JavaScript's Date() object which gets the client's system time, so it's already calculating the countdown based on each user's specific timezone. ?

I got an early Christmas present which is a Christmas special that surprisingly I never see played much anymore and couldn't even find on Wal-Mart's website or in the store. Target had it, but that was after I found it on Amazon. This is the Scrooge McDuck iteration of A Christmas Carol long before Disney made the one starring Jim Carrey.

One reviewer said this was a modified edition of the film, but right now I just want a copy of it since it seems to be getting rarer and rarer. This was my introduction to Charles Dickens' classic holiday story which is historically the true reason for the season.

The one that reviewer said was the original unaltered story was from a set called Disney Animation Collection 7: Mickey's Christmas Carol.

I wish more TV channels aired this with, at least, the same frequency as Rankin Bass or god damn Elf.
