QUEBEC MEAT PIE

Recipe serves: 6 | Prep Time 10 min | Cook Time 50 min | Chill Time 60 min

Ingredients
1 lb. Meatloaf mix (ground veal, beef, pork)
2 medium potatoes, grated
2 medium carrots, grated
1 envelope Lipton® Recipe Secrets® Onion Soup Mix
1 tsp. ground allspice
1/4 cup water
2 refrigerated pie crusts

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 400°. Cook meat and vegetables in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, stirring to break meat into small pieces, until meat is cooked, about 5 minutes. Add, Lipton® Recipe Secrets® Onion Soup Mix, allspice and water. Stir well to dissolve. Cook until liquid is slightly thickened, about 3 minutes. Cool mixture at least 1 hour.
2. Line 9-inch deep dish pie plate with 1 crust. Spoon cooled meat and vegetable mixture into crust. Top with second crust; seal edges and cut slits in crust to allow steam to escape.
3. Bake 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

TIP: Glaze the crust by brushing lightly with a beaten egg before baking.

TIP: Make into mini hand held pies for a party.

This sounds like it would be good with some sauce or gravy. Does Lipton have recommendations on making such a thing to go with this delightful dish?

What makes this meat pie unique to Quebec? It's literally just meat, potatoes, carrots and a sprinkling of spice that cannot be tasted given the quantity of other ingredients. I don't understand.

If we don't meet our quota of potato sommelier shtick and creepy triptych innuendoes by the end of December, then they might cut back Minichan's funding for such ventures. This post has been finely crafted to boost our numbers for both so we can pad out the year-end figures.

Its not exclusive to Quebec but it is a French Canadian thing :>

The filling varies but it does call for more spices than that.

First step is make sure it's an actual turkey and not a person in a turkey costume. After that you're on your own.

Buy the Fresh Turkey a couple of days in advance. Ask the Turkey for advice on cooking itself. May take a few minutes to decipher Gobble
