It's not illegal to be stoned. It's only illegal to posses weed. I've smoked weed before getting pulled over by the police (a couple of hours before) and they didn't notice. Personally I keep two rolls of masking tape in the front of my car, if we get pulled over then everyone has to quickly tape their drugs to their balls (pigs won't find in a pat down, and the chance of getting strip searched is minimal). Sniffer dogs can smell it on you if you roll a joint and then wash your hands.
