Everything I have read or heard from Western media says that Mogadishu, Somalia is a lawless, dangrous city filled with warlords, gun fights, explosions, terrorist attacks, and frequent kidnappings. They say that any Westerner going there is suicidal, that the second you step off of the plane, you will be gunned down and mutilated. They say that any Westerner foolish enough to go there had better hire private guards with assault rifles just to walk down the street.
Well, I went on google Earth and explored Mogadishu. And you know, it looks like any other city in the world. Apartments, restaurants, shops, pedestrians, cars, tuk-tuk taxis, and everything else you might find anywhere in the world.
So which is the true version of Mogadishu?
