Topic: I have a virus what the fuck do I do???

OK so I got drunk last night and I can't believe that I did this but I Googled for a keygen and downloaded a random exe. It was this one:

Now I get BSODs every time I go on my laptop. How do I know what kind of virus I have and how to get rid of it?

Here is what the latest BSOD said

Googling it comes up with nothing after the second string

Apparently it's a driver problem? The first BSOD I got said something about ntfs.sys

Reading top to bottom /g/ this one is the only one of value - that malware program is a no harm program but not up to the task by any means - the anti virus one IS!!

Okay, the first thing you're looking at is the right steps to take after receiving your little present from script-generating-exe-name land. If the computer will allow you to start up, if at all, firstly, download a anti-virus:http://free.avg.com/au-en/homepage, secondly, download HijackThis *keep is essential for home security*: http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/, and download ComboFix:http://www.combofix.org/.

Before plugging it in to another 4chan, make sure the 4chan is removed or at least identified so you are able to determine what risk it actually entails. I just to recently came up against two viruses, one exploiting autorun, and early windows explorer filename BOF, and one nasty self-replicating boot sector virus.

After downloading the virus scanner, scan your 4chan for viruses.

After running hijackthis, post the log here. HijackThis is a simple program which compiles a list of useful information in targeting malicious system activity. Post the log here to give everyone a better view.

Prepare to restart with ComboFix, it attempts to scan for any rootkit activity that it can identify, and then remove it. It is in no way perfect though and can not always resolve your kernel issues.

It sounds like your kernel has been affected, or a malicious program is attempting to lever a security flaw, or has overwritten files with malformed ones."

After you get it fixed and what you have will really mess up your computer to the point that pulling off the Virus at this point may still leave you in a mess to get it all the way you want it.

Lesson learned because the two or three Free Anti Virus programs are really good ones AVG or AVIRA and even Microshit offers a full Anti Virus program so there is no excuse to run without one. How the hell did you end up with Vista and getting past all those pop up and icon warnings on a daily basis about no firewall because with XP Vista and 7 you cannot have a the MS Firewall without some sorta Anti Virus program

Some of the free anti virus programs have come in ahead of the paid ones in recent dates with fixes b4 the expensive ones came up with the fixes. On occasion I get to test them on PDA's etc if I have the spare time and those tests are me being paid by client to run tests. - NOT for how good they are but for "other" reasons like how much do they eat up battery or bog down the O/S but I do keep my eyes open on those who are paid to find out who is best at the >Momento
