I want to know what the M stands for though. Oh, that may just be an app. You should turn off your Bluetooth and NFC though OP.

Some ip ranges have to use sasl to connect. That means you need to have a nickserv account, which you do. So just enable sasl in your client. This happens because those networks are a common source of spam, so freenode requires an account to connect.
