But the second bit of info is very relevant. I wonder if this recent man was the first soldier (not person) to defect through the DMZ?

I read this one book about a guy who had escaped one of the slave labor camps. He had informed on his own mother, and he said that in the camps, they couldnt/didnt follow typical family until closeness and loyalty.
