In my chrome the block patterns don't work that way. It expects to just be given "livejasmin.com"

(Citing a deleted or non-existent reply.)
You can add more. For example, window.location.hostname.match("888.com").

Weird. I use Chromium, but I dunno. It's working fine for me.

They might've changed it in the developer builds but I stopped using those because I was sick of all the little instability quirks.

Possibly. Does blocking just livejasmin.com work for you?

No idea, I have no idea where I get those popups if ever. Putting in just "minichan.org" blocks stuff here, so I guess.

Most porn sites have LiveJasmine popups. Tonnes of them.

Ah, just checked it out. Turns out the popup window still opens but it just stays blank.

Same thing happens for me.

Why does Chrome have no good popup blocking extension. ;_;

r04r replied with this 14 years ago, 2 minutes later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #119,989

@previous (E)
Because that's not possible with the current API.

Though it might be possible to hook onCreated and then call a close on tabs if they're in a new window. idk.

Better Popup Blocker applies AdBlock Plus' rules to popups and pop-unders. Only annoying this is that it takes like ~10 seconds for them to close and often closes Chrome's main window for some reason. Even IE had a good populousness.

r04r replied with this 14 years ago, 1 minute later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #120,000

@previous (F)
Yeah chrome is a bit iffy with popup/ad-blocking seeing Google their stance in the ad market.

What I hate about built-in popup blockers is that they always block the wrong popups. They always allow the spam, but not the legitimate ones.

@previous (r04r)
Interesting. Also, I should, but I dunno. Is there anything worth upgrading for?

(Edited 31 seconds later.)

r04r replied with this 14 years ago, 1 minute later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #120,008

@previous (Meowth)
The legitimate ones open through traditional means, and the spam ones jump through hoops to still be opened.

The blockers block the traditional means. I really don't get what can be so difficult about simply disallowing new windows and showing a window before opening one.

I meant pop-up blocker.

And all browsers do have built in popup blockers. Chrome's is just not good.

Unfortunately, I've never had much luck using any browser. Internet Explorer to Firefox to Chrome etc.

Anonymous E replied with this 14 years ago, 33 seconds later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #120,015

Most spammy popups open when you click part of a page. Popup blockers never block them when they do that.

Anonymous E double-posted this 14 years ago, 1 minute later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #120,018

@120,014 (Meowth)
In IE9 you can set it to block all popups, and bypass it by clicking the link whilst holding CTRL.

I really hate the ones that open when you pop open when you click play on a video. Such as LiveJasmin popups. Luckily, I'll no longer have problems. I'm happy right now.

r04r replied with this 14 years ago, 33 seconds later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #120,021

@120,015 (E)
Yeah. I still think those should also be blocked, though. Just show a fair warning about it & just open the popup after clicking that warning. Not like IE reload the entire fucking page instead of just showing the popup.

Anonymous F replied with this 14 years ago, 7 seconds later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #120,022

Wouldn't it work to just add "127.0.0.1 livejasmine" to your hosts file?

Anonymous E replied with this 14 years ago, 6 minutes later, 6 hours after the original post[^] [v] #120,034

@120,022 (F)
Then you would just see a blank page. Or IIS/WAMP/whatever. It wouldn't stop the popup actually opening.

This.

Meowth (OP) replied with this 14 years ago, 26 seconds later, 6 hours after the original post[^] [v] #120,037

@120,034 (E)
Exactly. It's because you are just blocking access to the server and not the actual script.
