if you mean the PS/2 plug, it's no problem
many PC have one, otherwise there are PS/2-USB adaptoers

I also want a trackball mouse too. I am starting to think I really do like the ball better than a laser. Most modern trackball mouses look ugly as shit as if they were made for faggy gaming PCs. I just want a basic mouse that uses the ball instead of the laser.

This was while I interned at HP. The keyboard wasn’t mine to take. If it had been given to me I hella would have loved it.

Kensington Orbit. I've been using the same one since 2011. They really are a lot better, especially moving from one end of the screen to the other. Pair with a Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and you'll have the perfect match.

I presume the ball sticking out is just for ascetics, right?

They're called dadmice. They came with a Packard Bell or Gateway 2000

This is the mouse I am looking for, but are there still a few manufactures that make them?

So when you say you want a "trackball mouse" you mean you want "the old shitty mice they stopped making in 2000".
As someone who used them when they were state of the art 20 years ago, I can assure you're not missing out on anything. They got clogged up with dirt on the little rollers the ball moved to move the infrared sensors that detected mouse movement. This caused erratic mouse pointer movement. It was a pain in the ass to clean them with a q-tip several times a year. The optical ones are 10,000x better than the old ball ones.

All of my laser ones seem to suck ass.

in 1977 when Star Wars came out, no one was thinking, there's going to be fuckin laser mice in the future

I used to own a Microsoft Ballpoint Mouse. Boy, I miss that thing.

I doubt anyone makes them in bulk anymore, but you should be able to find a few lightly used mice on the cheap. I probably have 4-5 of them in a closet somewhere collecting dust. IIRC there was an issue that made connecting ps2 and serial mice to USB ports difficult because of the way inputs and power were handled, so you might want to make sure to find a USB ball mouse if you really want to try one.

I think the last time I saw one new in a store was 2004. How strong was the BallPoint mouse attachment? It looks like it could break off easily.
@829,843 (A)
While you're at it get a 3.5" floppy drive (or better yet a zip drive ?) and a 14"CRT so you can get the pure '90s experience.

It seemed pretty sturdy, but I honestly never used it enough to be a good judge of that. The one I had slotted into the attachment on the bottom. I would always pull it off and hold the mouse in my upturned hand. This was great because you weren't glued to the keyboard or the desk. If you were just using the mouse for something, then you lean back and hold the mouse like you would hold a snifter of brandy. Once you got used to using your thumb for the trackball and fingers for the buttons around the edge it was hard to go back.
