well, i've been getting this question a lot lately, so i guess i'll go ahead and talk a little about that. it's been well over a year since the last time i played warcraft, and so i'm just now getting back into it. blizzard released a trailer the other day for the next expansion and it'll probably be out within 6 months or something like that. time to go ahead and hop back on and catch another alt up to the level cap. maybe try the raids.
last time i had just gotten my Priest up to cap and was running dungeons and farming for gear. she was in a guild, and they were wanting me to heal for them and were like trying to accelerate me along by buying me expensive materials to make equipment and get me all set up to raid. i've done the progression raiding thing and it's a huge pain in the ass, so i kinda just ghosted on them and quit playing once i started running into a wall. at this point several raids are out and guilds have them on farm. there may be another new raid before the next expansion, but i don't really know how many more to expect. but, i'm way, way, way behind and there's no way i can actually catch up so i can safely avoid the siren call at this point. i can just focus on finishing out another alt, my rogue, and get her equipped out a little bit.
my shaman is like a 3rd of the way there. but i'm having fun with my rogue again. she's a pirate now, which is weird. i've mentioned before that she's been an admiral of the bloodsail pirates since wrath of the lich king (she still gets attacked on site by goblins for what she did to Booty Bay) but it's only a title. blizzard like decided to just make rogues pirates for some reason. it's alright. i get to use a gun again, which i do really like, rogues haven't used guns since wrath. but, i kinda question my rogues motivations. the fuck is a murderous thieving rogue doing leading an army, saluting "her troops" and being called hero? at least there's a lot of loot, gold and hidden treasure everywhere. and plenty of people to kill. maybe she's an imposter and posing as a leader to get her hands on some sweet stolen loot?
i don't even really know whats going on with the story, i'd kinda forgotten what my priest learned. and with my rogue i kinda don't even read anything beyond what the pay is and what the loots are. i finished the naga zone, fucking filthy naga, and i'm not sure why except that the boss fight dropped a pretty nice trinket. now she's headed to the land of ancient vikings to find some lost treasure and a magic warhammer.
so that pretty much should answer your question. if i decide to run up my shaman you'll be the first to know, but i may wait to do that until after another break. maybe right before the next expac to kinda warm up for it. like i did last year.

Booty Bay? i'll tell you what happened to Booty Bay. back in the day before goblins were a playable race allied with the horde, they maintained a neutral faction accessible by both horde and alliance. there are 3 main goblin cities, Gadgetzhan, Ratchet, and Booty Bay, as well as a larger number of smaller goblin camps around the world. this faction, like all factions has reputation which starts at neutral and grows more or less positive depending on what you do. to build good rep you simply do their missions and trade wool with them.
each of the Free Towns has an auction house, which allows horde and alliance players to trade goods with each other on the alternative marketplace. it's kinda like a black market. so there's some benefit to having good rep with the free towns, plus there's usually fast travel options, rest and shops available which means most crafting is available. they are also some of the only large towns in their respective zones, booty bay is on the far tip of an africa shaped continent with nothing around but jungle.
so i had a buddy from stormwind who bumped into my rogue when she and a few others were headed to booty bay. i was invited to take part in, uh, an activity that would end up with my rogue getting a new title and a fancy hat. so of course i went with them, and we headed to booty bay.
I'd been to booty bay before when i was leveling, but hadn't really done everything there yet. but i was past the zone and hadn't been back in forever. Anyway, booty bay is kinda like a pirate cove kinda thing, with lots of multilevel bamboo huts and buildings made from cloth and wood and a large dock with big sailing ships. the whole area is just crawling with goblin bruisers and other strong elites there to defend the city. not to mention all the residents being higher level and strong as well.
Booty bay has been struggling with the Bloodsail Pirates for years, the bloodsail pirates live near booty bay in another cove up the coast and many quests from booty bay involve you fighting the bloodsail pirates, so they are no friends of booty bay. When you kill the bloodsail pirates your rep with booty bay goes up and your rep with the bloodsail pirates goes down. but, if you happen to kill a booty bay bruiser or citizen then your rep with booty bay goes down and your rep with the bloodsail pirates goes up.
as a group, there were about 8 of us, we attacked booty bay and killed everyone there. we spent a good solid couple of hours camping the place and killing and bruiser or citizen that respawned. we even killed the shop keepers and the auctioneers. players were legit pissed with us and cussing us out because we slaughtered everyone over, and over, and over. every kill lowered our rep a point or two. i forget how many rep points it actually is, but it's a couple of thousand at least. eventually, after enough slaughter our reputation with booty bay was "Hated" and rep with the bloodsail pirates was "exalted." it took forever, even had to fight off other horde players who tried to stop us with PvP.
but after our reputation was... well fucked. we actually had several people stop halfway and decide they didn't want to lose all their rep so they just stayed to PvP with horde trying to stop us. my rep was no where near as good as theirs to begin with, so i was way more far gone by the time i really realized how fucked my rep was going to be. but after that we headed up the coast and surprisingly the bloodsail pirates who used to attack me and be marked enemy was now as friendly as could be. i was able to walk up to their little encampment, then boarded their ship and met their leader who i was now able to talk to. he promoted my rogue to Bloodsail Admiral for what we did, and i received a full set of pirate gear, not just a hat. so she's been wearing that title ever since. it's actually rare because, evidently, almost no one wants to fuck their rep that hard.
and fucked hard it is. it's still fucked even after like 7 years or whatever. and if my rogue even approaches the free cities or a goblin camp (almost any goblin, actually) they try to murder her. using griffon taxis is sometimes a gamble, because griffon masters are frequently goblins and will kill you when you land... it makes getting from continent to continent more difficult, since half of the ships are goblin crews. if she wasn't a rogue and able to vanish and use invisibility to stow away on ships then i'd have a real hard time in the old world.
i could fix the rep, but it's a huge pain in the ass. since i can't get near a goblin city let alone a quest giver (if they'd even talk to me) then i can't do any rep quests directly. instead i have to look around for goblins begging for wool. you give them wool, and you get like 1 rep point for helping a needy goblin i guess. so you can go back and forth like that giving them tons of free wool and eventually you'll be back to a neutral rep and can visit towns and take quests again. but it's expensive to buy that much wool, and it's time consuming to collect it.
i'll put it this way, i've been sending all the wool i collect from all my alts to my banker, Errandgirl, and she's only got like 1/10th what they need to fix that amount of rep.
totally worth it though.
sometimes i'll be in a group and we'll be going somewhere and suddenly i'll see a few goblin bruisers come from seemingly out of no where and they run right up and murder me. and my group will be laughing their asses off not knowing wtf just happened or why. suddenly the griffon masters decide to murder their rogue, wtf.
and that's the story of the massacre of Booty Bay and why my rogue is still killed on site by goblins.

Have you seen Log Horizon?
@previous (FuckAlms !vX8K53rFBI)
nope. just googled it, never heard of it. like sword art online i guess? i'm only aware of that one.
i did hear that blizzard is making "classic servers" that'll let people play vanilla again. people have been begging for it, i think most players will check it out briefly and abandon it.
it would be fun to play for a bit though.

Well, in LH dying in the game doesn't actually kill you so it's not a very big deal. I just noticed that your posts about your WoW characters remind me of this show because of how you treat them as people with stories and motives instead of just avatars.
