It never ceases to amaze me how much better FTM works than MTF. Just take a female, give her a buzz cut, a mastectomy and some testosterone and she'll look completely male. The voice drops, the beard grows, everything. A lot of them even develop male pattern baldness.

Is it possible that some of these children are just gay. It worries me that the decision to change sex is made before this is explored. Many gay children choose to play with the opposite sex and identify more with them.
