If you'd been acquitted of homicide and could not be charged again under double jeopardy, would you go around boasting about how you'd gotten away with murder and there wasn't one fucking thing anyone could do about it?

I'm pretty sure that would still be a confession and proof to put you away. You can still be tried if new evidence against you is found, even with double jeopardy.

He can't be tried twice for the same crime. The most they could do is go after him for violation of the victim's federal rights, but that would be practically impossible due to the statute of limitations.
