Topic: I firmly believe that the 21st century will be the fall of capitalism.

Much like the 20th century featured the fall of communism.

Capitalism will just keep building up until only a few controls everything. That comment I read about everything just being Wal-Mart, Amazon Distribution Centers, and maybe even Starbucks had me worried. I can actually see McDonald's being bought out by either Wal-Mart or Starbucks.

Good. The wealthy are too wealthy, and they screw the poor.

there used to be more wisdom after the chaos-inducing excesses of the 1800s were identified and managed in the 20th century, with rules that reduced boom-and-bust misery and orders that companies that had become monopolies had to split into separate entities. such a measure actually aids capitalism long-term, as there would be no competition if one single company "wins the game" and owns every fucking thing in the world

@previous (Sheila LaBoof)
Oh yeah, I forgot about those laws. Doesn't a company have to control about 80% of the marketshare before they face dismantlement? Isn't this what saved Apple during their days fighting Microsoft? Microsoft knew if they came out on top that they would control more than 80% of the marketshare which meant that the federal government would come and split it up so they just funded Apple to stay in business?

this might be the funniest thing I've read all day but I forgot everything I read this morning
