Pretty much everything that can be said about it, was.
Also I remember around 2004-07 it seemed as is evangelical Christianity was on the rise in the US. We had an evangelical president and this was also the time when Karl Rove was talking about a "permanent Republican majority" (LOL). It doesn't feel like that now. I can't actually imagine another evangelical winning the Presidency now. Especially now that gay marriage is off the table. On the Republican side in 2016 Cruz, Carson and Rick Santorum were the only real evangelicals which I think is pretty remarkable.

Oh yeah I forgot about him*. He wasn't running for President though that I know of.
*I think that's why he was chosen for VP. He has zero charisma or following so there's no risk of him upstaging Trump. You just kind of forget he's there.
