indeed, cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings

Do you like it? Do you feel it’s got the right mixture of enjoyability and difficulty?

Don’t mind that poster, it’s just my tulpa. I created him to ensure that absolutely every AMA topic could be asked the essential question.

yeah, the download was nice, clicked a few buttons and it was pretty much automated after that. it was'nt particularly difficult, so i'd say for the process it was exactly the right mix of enjoyability and difficulty since it didn't even frustrate me at all. very streamlined.

after playing it, it's pretty fun. it is kinda hard, there's some randomness to it, either that or the game tries pretty well to kill you. i guess i'm just playing on normal, i didn't change any defaults. i liked the first airplane mode boss i got to, the helicopter chick that morphs into things. probably had the most trouble with the toads so far, they're easy as fuck but i could not get the pattern down for the tiger slot machine thing. eventually i beat it when the tigers didn't hit but it was a pain.
i'm liking the boss fights, they're fun so far. feels kinda casual, in that you can't really die and lose the game it doesn't look like, seems like we just get infinite tries at each fight. but the fights are fast enough and throw enough shit at you to be difficult. i like the multiple phase fights with different mechanics throughout.
the aesthetic is pretty great, the game is beautifully made.

i thought it was supposed to be a retro game made to be like a combination between mario 3 and punchout. just wasn't expecting it to save as you went. makes it kinda casual. boss fights do get pretty hard though, so i can understand why they did it the way they did. you guys project your insecurities too much, go get laid or start a hobby or something.

Difficulty through making you repeat large sections of the game is not really a thing anymore and I think for good reason.

idk why you think i am personally attacking you, and i am sure diablo still makes you replay sections but that game consists of clicking on the enemies a lot.

what makes you think i think you're personally attacking me? all i suggested was you go watch some sports. you seem like someone who watches sports is all. what's wrong with that? back in my day all the cool people watched sports, maybe that was before you youngster's time.

anyone beat it yet? i'm on the third island, downed one boss there so far. not sure how many are left, i think at least 4. so far the hardest fight for me was the beppi the clown fight. the dragon seemed difficult at first, but then i downed it on like my third time i made it to the last phase. definitely hard, but not the hardest fight imo.
using the right weapons and charms helps tremendously: ignore if you don't want to hear about it ->, the charm that gives you invulnerability when dashing (smokebomb) is probably the most helpful, you can pretty well just ignore many boss mechanics by dashing through them. it's about the only thing that made the beppi the clown fight doable imo. the charm that gives you a free parry (sugar) is good on a few fights - even though it seems to reward inattentiveness there are some bosses that spawn parryable objects super close to you and about the only way to not take damage is to have this charm - but it's got limited value. the coffee i'm thinking is a good one for late game, i haven't needed it yet, but i can imagine it's great for burning down hard bosses quickly. the added heart charm, imo, is a crutch and should generally be last pick. all bosses can be done without taking a single point of damage, if you can get it with 4 you can get it with 3 with more practice.
i don't have all the weapons yet, so i can't speak about Roundabout yet, but one of the most helpful has been Chaser. it does pretty low damage and barely builds any Ult charge, but it lets you DPS even when you're running around and can't aim. and even if you figure out another weapon will work in a fight better than Chaser, using it lets you kinda relax and just focus on learning the fight patterns. then you can see where you can get damage in with more powerful weapons. i liked it to get me from the first phase almost to the last phase, and then i'd switch it up to weapons that burn down specific phases quickly. Lobber is about as useful as Shotgun, but when they are useful they are great high damage weapons. some fights won't even let you get near to the boss though. they are really, really useful at killing adds. bosses like barroness von bon bon or whatever, she spawns a bunch of adds and most of them are easy to kill up close. my favorite though is Charge shot. it's a bitch to use, but it hits hard and has long range. it's making a lot of fights easy, actually. the dragon comes to mind. but it does take more practice than others since you can't just hold x. but i like it.
idk about Roundabout. you don't have to aim it, and aiming backwards makes it stronger. so, not sure how good.
definitely get dash first, it's the best most helpful thing you can get. then i'd start picking up weapons starting with chaser and then getting the hard hitting ones.
