It might be worth joining a local hobby club. Like a gamers club or even a group for trans people. At least it'll get you out meeting real people while being in a safe space.

I was attending meetings for my local GSA club. Sadly, I am always too afraid to participate in club events so the only time I get to meet people is at those meetings. I also have many of them as friends on Facebook.
