Your tip is great. Unfortunately, most people forget it :/

Sadly true. It's a good habit to practice with lots of things, not just drugs. For example, I wouldn't buy anything on a credit card that I couldn't pay off immediately. Lots of people make that mistake.

Exactly. Credit cards are perfectly alright if you can pay for what you're charging at that moment with money in the bank. Otherwise, you're buying something you can't actually afford :/ Soooooooo many people make this mistake.

There's not much I can do. I don't really want to spend my money that he'll supposedly pay back just to buy cigarettes for him. He already owes me $10 for making me bring him some gas when he ran out.

Neat way to use a credit card. Apply for a card, for example a Mastercard with a $1000 limit. When approved, immediately cash it out for 1000 dollars and then put that money into your savings account. Make minimum payments for one year on that money you are saving. At the end of the year pay off the credit card with the 1000 dollars you saved. Your credit limit will be increased by a large amount. The amount of money you paid in interest is the amount of money it cost you to increase your credit limit. You are in essence using that money to purchase better credit. You can then repeat this with the new credit limit, say it's now $5,000, just do the same thing (hold back the cash and make minimum payments) and at the end of the year pay it off. Once again, you will be purchasing better credit and at the end will have a higher credit limit --and what it costs you is the interest you paid.
If you happen to qualify for 0 interest payments for a year (or some such special offer) then it's even better and costs you less to do it, but you have to have pretty good credit for that already. Do it a few times with a few different cards and you can easily have $75,000 - $100,000 in available credit and use that to help finance a small start-up or business for yourself.

Eh, financial shit is something I have some understanding of, considering numerous members of my (extended + sibling) family make bad financial decisions all the fucking time and I get to see what not to do.
Also, I have a fucking brain to understand you don't spend money you don't have. Herp.

This is true. Its best to build credit and keep it clean before you decide you might want it.

And I do understand them, shockingly enough.

> I think they should be used if you can definitely get the money to pay it off in time before you fuck yourself over.
The idea is that you can make large transactions before you have the money and pay it off in time, with interest so the banks can make money. So you never really 'fuck yourself over' unless you do it that way. You can pay very small amounts pcm and that is acceptable to them. Using a credit card only when you can also use a debit card is pointless; you might as well not have one.

I guess it depends. My friend's dad bought a car with a credit card and paid it all off at the end of the month. Got him lots of rewards. I don't remember what he all got, but I remember he got like 10 plane tickets.
