If I as an English speaker can read the Pidgin articles with a bit of effort, the native Pidgin speakers can read the BBC English articles with a bit of effort, right?
Like if we lived in parallel universe where Pidgin was "standard" English and all the major news was in Pidgin, I would just put in the effort to get fluent in Pidgin instead of seeking out the few, limited, Pidgin language news sources. I mean I can already read it 90+%, it's nothing compared to reading Chaucer in the original Middle English.

Middle English, at least later Middle English, isn't that bad once you get the hang of hang of it. That would be a fun world to live in: One where everything you read was in Modern English but everyone around you just kept interacting using Middle English.
