3. He tells everyone that he doesn't drink anymore to try to hide his rampant alcoholism.

Can we please focus on the important issues? The bicycle. What a faggot, right?

Are 1.5 billion Chinese people "faggots"?

Just because you're fat and unhealthy doesn't mean everyone has to be... Also, he's the exact opposite of everything you listed.

Meta is really just a proxy war.

Upgrades I need to make to the bike:

Switch the shifters from grip shifting to thumb shifting (keep accidentally shifting with the grip shift which is really annoying) need to get a nice Shimano shifter.
Upgrade front derailleur from friction to indexed shifting
Adjust toe-in on brake pads so they stop squealing
Replace knobby off-road tires with slicks for lower rolling resistance and better grip on pavement

Sounds like you should just go for a new $450 bicycle of the city/hybrid style. Keep this cheapass bike as backup or a loaner.

@814,007 (D)
$450-$120=$320 which is much less than the cost of the upgrades.

Shimano Tourney shifters: $19.99
Adjust toe-in $0
Pair of Freedom 27.5 ThickSlicks: $40

Total: $69, which would raise the cost of the bike to ~$190. Even if I upgraded the crankset and bottom bracket I'm still well under the cost of a "real" bike.

I really don't need the front derailleur to be indexed. I usually stay in the middle chainring (don't usually go fast enough to justify the large one). Just so long as I don't keep accidentally shifting to the small one.

Are you doing the work? Tools have a price.

Are you hiring somebody? Labor isn't free.

I've been reading sheldonbrown.com for a few months and I have a decent set of tools (sockets, pliers, wrenches, etc). I also would get satisfaction out of upgrading the bike myself (I'm a DIY kind of guy).

I have the time, patience, and mechanical aptitude to pull these few upgrades off. But seriously though taking bike tires on and off is something I did when I was like ten years old. I've read about adjusting derailleurs and it doesn't seem so hard.

Remind me to get a red Bell helmet and ziptie an eagle from a flagpole to it.

If Sheldon could take a 1916 Mead Ranger and ride it, I can make a Walmart Mongoose work.

@OP becky I have bad news: this may be terminal. Few have ever come back from a Sheldon Brown infection.

This strain even appears to be immune to malt liquor. I'm at a loss for what to do.

I think it's just that the Meta meme is played out. It was all, "lolol I drink and love Trump". You can only keep that fresh for so long.

Do you think Meta is meming now?

Protip has kept up the hippie meme for years now so it may have more staying power than the Trump alcoholism meme.

Scary stuff.

Okay so I have 3x7 speed cheap MTB setup. The derailleur is a really cheap Shimano with SIS index shifting. The grip shifters are some cheap no name ones. If the bike has a Shimano derailleur can I use any Shimano 7 speed shifter? And if the derailleur is Shimano does that mean the cassette is Shimano-compatible?

Meta this is important: do you…

Use deodorant, antiperspirant, or cologne?

Shave more than 3 times a week?

Burn incense or candles?

Have crystals or stones in your house?
