"You know forty ounce bottles of malt liquor. From the gas station. It's only two dollars. Beware though it can give you a hell of a hangover until you've adapted to it"

She also thought it was odd that I decide which wine to buy by figuring out how much alcohol is in it and which wine is the cheapest per mL of ethanol.

I've actually developed a unit called BWE, Bottle of Wine Equivalent, which is standardized to 100mL alcohol (approximately the amount in a 750mL bottle of 13% wine). So a forty is 1.00602 BWE, a fifth of brandy is 3 BWE, and a can of Budweiser is 0.16 BWE
Once you've standardized like this you can make more informed adult beverage purchasing decisions. Like the fifth of vodka is $6.50, the bottle of wine is $2.99 and the case of Budweiser is $11.99, which do you pick? It's impossible without a system like this.

about $0.35 per shot worth of
100 proof alcohol...comes out to less Tha $0.50 per beer (Budweiser strength)..
